About Simplistic Fishing

One Angler. Real Waypoints.

Hi, I'm Tyler — a Rockwall, Texas-based bass fisherman who got tired of paying too much for waypoints that never quite delivered. So I built something better.

Tyler — founder of Simplistic Fishing — holding a large bass

Meet Tyler.

Founder of Simplistic Fishing. Lifelong bass angler. The guy who personally researches every lake breakdown, packs every SD card, and answers every customer email.

Twenty-plus years on the water taught me that good information is the difference between a slow day and a great one. Now I build the kind of waypoint packages I always wished someone else had been selling — complete, fairly priced, and made by someone who actually fishes.

The Honest Origin Story

I've been fishing for bass for as long as I can remember. Twenty-plus years on the water, thousands of casts, and more time staring at fish finder screens than I'd care to admit. Like most serious anglers, I eventually started buying GPS waypoint packages to speed up my time on unfamiliar lakes.

What I found wasn't great.

The waypoint products on the market were either wildly overpriced, frustratingly incomplete, or just a handful of "community holes" everyone already knew about. Some packages were $100+ for the same dozen spots a quick Google search would turn up. Others were cheap but covered so few features they were barely worth loading onto your unit.

So I started doing it myself — first for the lakes I fished, then for friends, then for friends of friends. Eventually I realized there were thousands of anglers across the country dealing with the same problem. Simplistic Fishing was born to fix it.

Bass fishing shouldn't require a second mortgage to know where the fish are. Honest waypoints, fair prices, no fluff. — Tyler, Founder

Complete Lake Breakdowns — Not Hot Spot Lists

Here's the difference between Simplistic Fishing and most waypoint products on the market: I give you the whole lake, not just the community holes.

A lot of competitors sell you a list of "the best 25 spots" — usually the same well-known places every angler on the lake already pounds. You show up at one of these "secret hot spots" and there are six other boats sitting on it before sunrise.

That's not what I do. My breakdowns map every meaningful piece of structure across the entire lake — brush piles, ledges, channel swings, drop-offs, humps, offshore features, the works. The point isn't to hand you a copy-paste milk run. The point is to give you the raw information so you can build your own patterns, identify your own seasonal moves, and find your own spots that no one else is fishing.

That's how the best anglers actually catch fish — by understanding the lake, not just running someone else's waypoints. I just give you the data to do it faster.

What Makes It Different

Simplistic Fishing is built around one simple idea: do the work right, charge a fair price, and treat customers like fishing partners — not transactions.

Every lake breakdown is researched using high-resolution Google Earth® imagery and Garmin® HD Contours data. I don't take shortcuts — I work through every section of the lake systematically before a package goes out. No "we mapped the popular cove and called it a day."

And because I'm not running a giant operation with overhead and middlemen, I can keep prices well below what you'd pay anywhere else for comparable quality. That's not a marketing claim — it's just math. Less corporate bloat means more value for you.

One Angler, Not a Call Center

Simplistic Fishing is a one-person operation. I'm the researcher, the website builder, the customer support, and the guy who packs your SD card before it ships out from Rockwall.

That has trade-offs — I can't offer phone support, and you'll occasionally catch me on the water instead of at my desk. But it also means every email gets a personal response from me, every package goes out with care, and every dollar you spend goes back into building better waypoints — not into someone else's pocket.

If you've ever been on hold with a corporate call center wondering if anyone actually cares about your problem, you'll appreciate the difference.

Rockwall Roots, Nationwide Coverage

I'm based in Rockwall, Texas — just east of Dallas on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard, with Lake Tawakoni, Ray Roberts, Lavon, and Fork all within easy striking distance. It's hard to imagine a better place to be a bass angler. But Simplistic Fishing covers lakes across the country.

From Lake Fork and Sam Rayburn here in Texas, to Guntersville in Alabama, Hartwell in Georgia, and dozens more — if it's a serious bass fishery, chances are I've got it covered or it's on the list. I add new lakes regularly based on customer demand. If yours isn't in the catalog yet, request it on the contact page — high-demand lakes get prioritized.

How I Operate

Three principles guide every decision — from which lake gets mapped next to how I price every package.

01

Fair, Honest Pricing

No inflated guide-fee markups. No "premium" packages with the same data as the basic version. One fair price, all features included, every time.

02

Whole Lake, Not Hot Spots

You get every meaningful piece of structure across the entire lake — not a copy-paste list of community holes everyone already knows about. Build your own patterns from real data.

03

Personal Service

Every email lands in my inbox personally. Every order ships from my hands. You're not customer #4,892 — you're another angler I'm trying to help.
