Guide Lanes are an aid to navigation, not a substitute for it. Every lane was personally driven and verified by Tom Mayne at the time it was mapped, but lakes change. Water levels rise and fall, timber shifts, and new hazards like floating debris, sandbars, and construction can appear at any time.
- You are the captain. Keep a proper lookout, run at a safe speed for the conditions and visibility, and slow down in timber, on shallow flats, and in unfamiliar water — especially at night or in low light.
- GPS data can't guarantee obstacle clearance. Your fish finder's built-in charts and our lanes both have limits. Treat any stored route as guidance, never as a promise of open water.
- Check conditions before you launch. Current lake level, wind, and hazard notices from the controlling authority always take priority over a stored route.
- Import and verify. Confirm the lanes loaded correctly and display on your unit before you leave the ramp.
