Discover the ultimate bass fishing secrets on the St. Lawrence River, NY with our meticulously crafted fishing waypoints. Leveraging the power of Google Earth®, Garmin® HD Contours as well as other tools, we've pinpointed the most productive hot spots where bass thrive. Delve into the intricacies of the river breakdown, as our waypoints lead you to strategic locations like rock piles and shoals, offshore hard spots, ledges and ridges, weed beds, ditches and drains, laydowns, debris, flats, bridges and old foundations, ensuring you're at the heart of the action.
The St. Lawrence River is the outflow of Lake Ontario and forms the border between New York and Ontario, winding through the granite shoals and island maze of the Thousand Islands before widening into the long, current-swept reaches past Ogdensburg, Waddington and Massena. It is one of the most famous smallmouth fisheries in the country – Bassmaster named it the top bass fishery in the nation in 2019 and the Bassmaster Elite Series has fished out of Waddington – with quality largemouth in the weedy bays and backwaters. Our breakdown covers the river from Cape Vincent to Massena and marks 4,153 waypoints, including 2,394 rock and shoal marks, 1,157 offshore spots (hard spots, ledges, ridges and humps), 163 vegetation marks, 146 bridges, culverts and roads, 139 ditches, drains and channel marks, 77 cover and structure spots (laydowns, debris and flats), 75 ramps and slabs, and 2 foundations, plus 66 traced channels and ditches.
Because the river is so big, we've broken it into five sections so your graph never gets overloaded – buy the full river, or pick the section you fish:

- Cape Vincent Section – the head of the river at the Lake Ontario outlet, from Cape Vincent around Carleton Island and Wolfe Island up to just west of Clayton (904 waypoints)
- Clayton Section – Clayton and Fishers Landing up to the Thousand Islands Bridge (742 waypoints)
- Alexandria Bay Section – Wellesley Island, Alexandria Bay and the island-packed main channel east toward Chippewa Bay (893 waypoints)
- Chippewa Bay Section – Chippewa Bay and the lower Thousand Islands down to Morristown (671 waypoints)
- Ogdensburg - Massena Section – Morristown, Ogdensburg, Waddington, Lake St. Lawrence and Massena (943 waypoints)
But that's not all – we've taken it a step further by uncovering offshore fishing hot spots. Explore creek channel swings, humps, ledges, drop-offs, and points that promise an exhilarating bass fishing experience. The simplicity lies in the seamless import of these waypoints into your fishing graphs, providing you with a hassle-free navigation experience.

On-the-Water Safety
On-the-Water Safety
Waypoints mark fishing structure, not safe travel routes. Brush piles, humps, ledges, rock, and attractors are exactly the kind of things a boat can hit. Many of the best spots sit in shallow or timber-filled water — idle in, watch your depth, and never run a straight line between waypoints at speed.
- You are the captain. Keep a proper lookout and run at a safe speed for the conditions, especially at night or in low light.
- GPS data can't guarantee obstacle clearance. Lake levels and structure change; a waypoint shows where something is, not that the water around it is safe.
- Looking for safe boat routes? Our Guide Lanes are verified navigation paths for select Texas lakes.
Safe operation of your boat is your responsibility. Simplistic Fishing is not responsible for damage, injury, or loss arising from use of this product.
